The characters Hunny, Choocha, Zafar, Lali and Bholi Punjaban will be retained. These characters became a hit among the people and they were played by Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh and Richa Chadha. The film’sproducer Ritesh Sidhwani said, “When we were promoting ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, we were constantly being asked why we aren't spinning sequels since several of our films could lend themselves to franchises. Since the characters of ‘Fukrey’ become really popular, we have decided to retain the original cast, along with director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.” “The story will take the characters' lives forward but everything else will remain the same. We don't want to change the North Indian setting,” added Ritesh.
