Tuesday, 9th Aug 2016, 1:02 PM IST Music Composers: A. R . Rehman Lyricists: Javed Akhtar Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ Indian epic adventure-romance film, known to be the world's first cinematic presentation referencing the ancient Indus Valley civilization and its greatest city, the UNESCO World Heritage site known today only as Mohenjo-daro.It stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde the lead roles. Scheduled to release on Aug 12th, 2016. Keep reading if the music stands a chance to get historic just like the plot of the film. The album starts with the title track ‘Mohenjo Mohenjo’ sung by A.R. Rehman, Arijit Singh, Bela Shende, Sanah Moidutty. The composition seems stale with regular ancient beats of a drum has nothing out raging to offer making even an Arijit sound like a miss fit which according to me is more difficult to do as compared to making a great composition. It gives you a disappointing start for an A. R. Rehman album. Ratings: 2/5 The second song in the album is ‘Sindhu Ma’ sung by A.R. Rehman, Sanah Moidutty & Megh Shah. It’s clubbed with some ancient chants along with graceful singing by the singers. This one starts just like the first song but luckily progresses into a sweet romantic track. You’ll have to listen to this one a couple of times for it to grow on you, and you’ll definitely get hooked onto it once you do. Ratings: 3/5 The third song of the album ‘Sarsariya’ is another romantic sung by Shashwat Singh and Shashaa Tirupati. This one comes with some variations in pace and is well sung. The composition caters perfectly with the era and has some very rhythmic Congo & bongo beats in the background. It’s a one timer. Ratings: 2/5 ‘Tu Hai’ sung by just A.R. Rehman and Sanah Moidutty this time around is a faster version that’s all. Ratings: 3/5 The next song of the album is ‘Whispers of the Mind’ & ‘Whispers of the Heart’ chanted by Arjun Chandy give you inner peace and may work like a therapy. Ratings: 2.5/5 ‘The Shimmer of Sindhu’ is the instrumental of Tu Hai. It’s amazing, completely mesmerizing. I wish they had just this track in all different forms. Ratings: 3/5 The last track of the album is ‘Lakh Lakh Thora’ is an instrumental track. Ratings: 2.5/5 ‘Mohanjo Daro’ an interesting plot one that I have waited anxiously to watch for ages. A. R. Rehman tries his best to come up with some soulful music but disappoints with just one song being exceptional. In today’s fast paced lives where most things are instant and with new upcoming talent that sprouts almost with each upcoming album leaves us with less patience to give an opportunity to allow music to grow onto us. Music gets just one chance or never. Ratings: 2.5/5 Music Review By – Preeti Lopes-- |
