Tony D’ souza’s “Azhar” is sports drama film Based on the life of Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, played by Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 13 May 2016.Let’s review the music album to know what’s in store.
The album starts with the slow romantic song ‘Bol Do Na Zara’ beautifully composed by Amaal Maliik & sang by Armaan Maliik in his velvety vocals to the lyrics penned down by Rashmi Virag which are dreamy. Ratings: 2.5/5
The second song is another romantic number ‘Itni Si Baat Hai’ sung by Aijit Singh in his husky tone & with Antara Mitra accompanying him very compatibly, composed charismatically by Pritam on lyrics written by Manoj Yadav. Ratings: 3/5
‘Oye Oye’ sung by Armaan Maliik & Aditi Singh Sharma is quite a downer considering the popularity of the original classic a song should be recreated only to make it sound better or should just be left untouched. The original lyrics by Anand Bakshi have been maintained and the music is poorly recreated by DJ Chetas. Ratings: 2/5
The next song in the album is ‘Tu Hi Na Jaane’ sung by Sonu Nigam sounding very unlike himself in a treated voice & Prakriti Kakkar accompanying him with the Punjabi crooning. The lyrics by Kumaar are captivating, and the composition by Amaal Mallik is magical. Ratings: 3/5
‘Jeetne Ke Liye’ is the last song of the album sung by K K lyrics is supposed to sound inspirational but has nothing great to offer and is a very average composition by Amaal Mallik ,on lyrics penned down by Kumaar. It talks about Azhar’s downfall asking him to rise & spring back into action but leaving no emotional connects with the audience. Ratings: 2/5
Overall, the album of ‘Azhar’ may add some value to the plot as some of the songs will be commercially accepted. However it may fail to create a connect with the audience missing its century!! Ratings:2.5/5
