Wednesday, 18th May 2016, 03:22 PM IST National Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is back with another female-oriented film titled, ‘Main, Indu’. The film revolves around a female poet-activist. The director has been doing extensive research for this project. The film is set during the 21 months of the Emergency, between June 25, 1975 and March 21, '77, when constitutional rights were curbed, many of the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's political opponents were imprisoned and the press censored. This period is considered to be the one of the most controversial periods in independent India's history and several films in the past have focused on it, including Amrit Nahata's ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, Satyajit Ray's ‘Hirak Rajar Deshe’. A source said, "Indu, in this film has no reference to Indira Gandhi or any real-life character. She's a female poet who stammers and rebels against the system during these trying times.” The source adds, "Madhur also travelled to Kolkata to meet other prominent authors, politicians and journalists who were a part of the Emergency.” Now you can enjoy ad-free experience by downloading India’sfirst Box Office mobile app from here –Android: http://bit.ly/BOCapsuleMobileApp and iOS: bit.ly/BOCapsuleiOSApp |
