Verdict:

Detailed Analysis:
Muddassar Aziz directed disastrous 'Dulha Mil Gaya' and now he is making comeback with 'Happy Bhag Jayegi' under banner of Anand L Rai.
Plot is interesting. Spirited Amritsar kudi Happy’s (Diana Penty) heart beats for Guddu (Ali Fazal) but the path of true love is strewn with stern fathers (Kanwaljeet), local bad boy rival Bagga (Jimmy Shergill) and an accidental Pakistani gentleman named Bilal Ahmed (Abhay Deol).
The film spends a substantial amount of time in Pakistan, and a whole bunch of colourful characters trying out their Urdu. Fervent Pakistani cop (Piyush Mishra) who loves some things Hindustani (Taj Mahal, Yusuf saab), Bilal’s father (Javed Sheikh) who wants him to join politics, and his beautiful betrothed (Momal Sheikh) who looks askance at this new girl: who will Happy chooses is the climax.
Film has decent plot but screenplay gets boring at times especially in 2nd half. Songs are flat and proceedings look too cliche. Film takes too obvious inspiration from 'Tanu Weds Manu' school.
Performance wise, Diana Penty is just good. Abhay Deol is average but looks misfit in the character somehow. Jimmy Shergill is exactly same mood as he was in TWM. Ali Fazal looks jaded and Piyush Mishra offers nothing new. Javed Sheikh and Momal Sheikh are strictly average.
Film has crisp editing. Background music is loud. Cinematography is decent, production design is authentic and costumes are apt. Music is bore.
Director Muddassar Aziz again makes a very average uninspiring film which loses steam mid way after interesting premise. Even his direction is wayward.
Film released today and will struggle to score any kind of number. Film will be affected by 'Rustom' as it will hold well in 2nd week and should be first choice.
Go for this only if you do not mind rehash and downgraded version of TWM!
