Wednesday, 4th June 2014, 05:30 PM IST Priyanka Chopra who plays a boxer in ‘Mary Kom’had to lose 7 kilos to play a businesswoman convincingly in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.
Priyanka trained with boxer Jharna Sanghvi to build the brawny physique of the Olympic boxing champ, but director Zoya wanted her to lose 7 kgs to look like a svelte businesswoman in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.Moreover, Piggy Chops had only 20 days to shed the pounds.
Trainer Jharna said, “It's usually not easy and advisable to cut down six-seven kilos in just 15-20 days. But boxers can lose that much in about 20 days with the right weight training and activities like skipping, running and a controlled diet because they are trained for it. Priyanka did just that.”
The actress was also put on a strict diet. Jharna further added, “Priyanka's diet included a lot of carbohydrates then. So her weight shot up. And from the day she completed her shoot, I put her on a protein rich diet and eliminated carbohydrates. Regular exercises and running for atleast 30 minutes helped too.” ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ also stars Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Shefali Shah. |
