Tuesday, 4th June 2014, 06:30 PM IST Mohit Suri shot to fame with ‘Aashiqui 2’, however, the trailer of his ‘Ek Villain’is already living up to his newly gained ‘big league’ director status. The trailer has already garnered 5.8 million hits. We guess, what makes this trailer special is that Sidharth Malhotra and the always funny Riteish Deshmukh are shown as dark characters, with the audience left guessing who really would be the villain in the film. "Post ‘Aashiqui 2’, I have developed confidence to put stars in a position where no one has seen them before, be it Shraddha Kapoor as a banjaran or Sidharth as a bad guy. Although Sidharth, coming from SOTY, had the branded clothes image, talking to him I connected with him as a boy, who had lived in Malad during his struggling days, and I felt that he could have a serious sombre side to him too. For me, what was interesting was casting Riteish in a serious role when he is usually known for his comic timing and Sidharth as an angst-driven action character,” Mohit said. He continued, “I also feel that, that is what has worked as you don't expect to see them like that. Also, I guess it's good to be bad today and that is what has caught on with people. A lot of stars and directors liked it, but what was truly special was Hrithik Roshan calling me. He is someone I started my career with, as an assistant, in ‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’.He understands both editing of a film as well as the commercial aspect of it,very well. He found the teaser interesting and liked the nuancing of my characters. My writer cut the trailer, so I too saw it as an audience. There were two points at which I wanted to whistle. One, when Sidharth removes his hood and the other, when Riteish turns in the end. And after that, I was actually not looking for too many approvals." |
