DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY Is Edge Of The Seat Interesting Thriller

Pluses:
Realistic setting, very well shot, Sushant Singh Rajput delivers honest act, Neeraj is outstanding and outshine all, perfect supporting cast, tight direction by Dibakar, super editing, taut writing

Minuses:
Climax is unnecessarily full of blood bath,2nd half slows down, background score is uneven

Critic Rating:
4.5/5

Business Rating:
3.5/5

Verdict:
Watch it for rare and fantastic suspense flick experience

Detailed Analysis:
Dibakar Banerjee gave few gems in 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', 'Oye Lucky Lucky Oye' and 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha'. Now he is back with big screen adaptation of cult character, Byomkesh Bakshy.

Film is based in complex world of Kolkata of 1942. 2nd world war, Japanese attack on Kolkata and freedom struggle - in middle of this chaos, there us small time Detective Byomkesh Bakshy who is investigating death of a chemist Bhuvan. His son (Anand Tiwari) along with Byomkesh gets into the dark secretive Kolkata. One secret is unraveled after another and one death leads to another murder; how Byomkesh gets trapped in solving the case forms the rest of the film.

Performance wise Sushant Singh Rajput completely surrenders to the role and though his voice does not go with character, he delivers an honest act. Anand Tiwari is good and so is Swastika Mukherjee. Film has stellar performances from supporting cast but the real scene stealer is Neeraj. He simply walks away with all accolades in climax.

Film has a very taut story and dialogues written by Urvi and Dibakar where every character and scene comes out fantastically. Background music looks out of the place at times. Art department brings authentic look of those times and editing is top notch. There is no music in the film which is a welcome break.

Director Dibakar Banerjee again delivers an edge of the seat and intetesting thriller. He creates environment and once again proves his mastery over the medium.

Film will release tomorrow and will release across 1240 screens. Film has good chances at box office as there is no competition plus holiday tomorrow. Film will depend on exceptional word of mouth to achieve great heights as it's primarily a multiplex film.

Go for this one for some great performances and tight thriller, a rare combo for Bollywood!
