''Detective Byomkesh Bakshy'' released with expectations as it had interesting promo and combo of ace director Dibakar Banerjee - Sushant Singh Rajput. Still this film proved to be a disappointment at box office.

Film collected below par 14 cr nett plus over weekend and then it went on to collect 19.87 cr nett in week one which was too good. Film crossed 25 cr nett over 2nd weekend and should collect 26  cr nett lifetime which is a below average number. Film should have distributor share of 12.25 cr and overseas too film had average business of 9 cr with share of 4.50 cr.

Film has 16.75 cr worldwide share and it will maximum earn 2.25 cr more from other ancillary rights in addition to 15.75 cr from satellite rights. Film has total income around of 34.75 cr and that against the total cost of 35 cr which means loss of 0.8% (25 lakhs). Film was affected badly by ''Fast & Furious 7'' though good satellite deal did save the extent loss.
