Omung Kumar’s ' is an Indian biographical drama film based on the lifeof Sarbjit narrated through the perspective of Sarbjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaurplayed by Aishwarya Rai. The film also stars Randeep Hooda playing Sarabjit,with Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumaar essaying supporting roles in the film.
The album starts with the soulful romantic song ‘Salamat’ composed graciously by Amaal Maliik in Armaan Maliik’s voice creating some kind of magic that the siblings always create together, Tulsi Kumar sings along as well sounding nasal however it gets camouflaged due to the strength of the composition and with perfect lyrics penned down by Rashmi Virag. Ratings: 3/5
The next song ‘Dard’ in Sonu Nigam’s marvelous voice is a beautiful slow song. The song has emotional lyrics penned down by Rashmi Virag & Jaani and has been composed by Jeet Gannguli and is superbly packaged keeping the plot of the film in mind. Ratings: 2.5/5
‘TungLak’ is a Punjabi composition by Shail – Pritesh it’s a fast bhangra track for the happy moments in the film sung by the ever green Sukhwinder Singh and complimented by Sunishi Chauhan with voices of Shail Hada & Kalpana Gandharv in the background. Ratings: 2/5
The next song in the album is ‘Rabba’ sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali sounding earthy is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, and has Arabic catchy beats. It’s a song in distress but isfast paced and that’s what makes this one stand out. The lyrics have been written by Arafat Mehmood. Ratings: 3/5
‘Meherbaan’ is a qawwali sung beautifully by Sukhwinder Singh in his exceptional voice accompanied by Shail Hada & Munnawar Masoom on the lyrics penned down by A M Turaz and is very gracefully composed by Shail – Pritesh. This one’s going to give you the goose bumps while watching the movie on screen. Ratings: 3/5
The next song of the album is ‘Barsan laagi’ sung by Shail Hada in his amazing classical vocals and is angelically composed by Shail – Pritesh using simple musical instruments yet making itso special. This one’s a treat to the ears for all music lovers. Also complete credit goes to the lyrics by A M Turaz by adding to simplicity of this outstanding track. Ratings: 3/5
‘Allah HuAllah’ is a sufiyana blissful song sung by Shashaa Tirupati, Altamash & Rabbani Mustafa Khan, composed by Tanishk Bagchi on lyrics penned down by Haider Najmi which will connect you with the heavenly powers. Ratings: 2.5/5
The next song is ‘Mera Junoon’ composed by Shail – Pritesh and sung by Shail Hada to the lyrics of A M Turaz. This one’s a hard hitting song. Ratings: 2.5/5
‘Nindiya’ is a dreamy number by Arijit Singh in his dreamy voice with some heart touching melody. Composed by Shashi Shivam to some unbelievable lyrics penned down by Sandeep Singh. This one will leave you teary eyed. Ratings: 3/5
‘The Theme Song’ will leave you mesmerized and sad at the same time giving you that feeling from with inthat we sometimes get so close to achieving what we really want but are still left far behind only to realize it was just an underachieved dream because of the evils in society that are created with hatred & war. Ratings: 3/5
Hats off to the album of ‘Sarbjit’ just like it’s topic it’s sensitive, heart touching & melodious. This one’s a special one put together with a lot of talents doing just the right thing at the right time.
