HOLIDAY Scores Good Day One At Box Office, FILMISTAAN Below Average
''Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty'' has kicked off big release season of the year 2014. Film has almost no competition at box office as ''Heropanti'' is nearing towards its end of run in 3rd week and ''Filmistaan'' and ''Edge Of Tomorrow'' are only for niche audience.
''Holiday'' took a fairly decent start and film was better in north on expected lines like other Akshay Kumar starrers. Film was weak in Gujarat and Mumbai where opening is close to 30%. Film saw jump from evening onwards and as positive word of mouth emerged out of cinemas, film improved considerably.
Though section of media and self acclaimed ''official'' websites claimed that film opened weak, but star power of Akshay Kumar made sure that film came out with good day one numbers. As per early estimates, film should collect close to 11.50 cr nett and big jumps in late night shows can take it a bit higher.
''Filmistaan'' took a slow start and due to such a huge competition from big release, film will try to find audience in metros only. Film should collect 75 lakhs nett on day 1 as per early estimates.
Hollywood release ''Edge Of Tomorrow'' was dependent on star power of Tom Cruise and scored good numbers in metros.
