EK VILLAIN Had Fairly Good Monday
''Ek Villain'' was expected to take big start at box office and that is what happened. As we explained in our earlier reports, film had good buzz due to chartbuster music and trusted director. Film release across 2500 plus screens.
Film almost repeated the Friday''s biz on day two. Film was simply humongous in Gujarat, Mumbai and central India. Though film was affected by Punjabi film ''1984'' in East Punjab yesterday but film had good growth in Punjab and surrounding areas. Film was super strong in east and south.
Film had super strong day one as film collected huge 16.75 cr nett on day one which was simply outstanding. Film was 2nd best to only Salman Khan starrer ''Jai Ho'' which released in 1500 more screens. Film started Saturday on lower note and there was a drop of around 15%.
But film recovered in a big way from evening onwards and that meant film had another humongous day at box office. Going by early trends, film should collect close to 16.54 cr nett. On Sunday, film was earth shattering everywhere and film collected close to 17.44 cr nett.
Film was affected by Ramzaan starting from yesterday but still film dropped by only 53% and collected very good 8.10 cr nett on Monday. Film has collected 58.80 cr nett in 4 days. Film is heading for 77 cr nett week one.
Film has collected close to 14 cr in overseas market in weekend and this was 3rd best weekend in 2014.
