DEDH ISHQIYA Starts Slow But YAARIYAN Takes A Decent Start
Today is the first big Friday of new year 2014 and box office will see clash of two contrasting films - one old kind classic romantic comedy thriller sequel ''Dedh Ishqiya'' starring Madhuri Dixit and other is youthful debutantes film ''Yaariyan''.
As expected and mentioned in our review, ''Dedh Ishqiya'' has taken a slow start mainly due to absence of any hit song and too niche feel of the film. Film is as low as 15% in Bangalore and Mysore but even north is not higher than 25%. In few places it has almost half the occupancy of ''Yaariyan'' which is not a good sign.
Other new release ''Yaariyan'' was underdog but has taken a decent start. Film has opened well in NCR, Delhi and Mumbai city mainly due to youth crowd. Film should improve as the day progresses and might give heavyweight counterpart run for its money.
As per early trends, ''Dedh Ishqiya'' has to cross 5 cr nett barrier on day one for any chance at box office though at the moment 4 cr nett looks more possible and ''Yaariyan'' will be in a good stride if it reaches 3 cr nett though again 2.5 cr nett is more realistic figure.
