Friday, 9th Oct 2015, 5:46 PM IST The biggest hit of the year, Salman Khan starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is being pulled into a legal tussle. The makers of the movie are facing a Rs. 50 crore copyright infringement law suit that claims the entire plot line and a few locations were deliberately inspired from another script. Director and TV producer Mahim Joshi has filed the suit in the Bombay High Court. He alleges the infringement is ‘career damaging', since he intended his script and subsequent film to be his launch project in the industry. Joshi claims that the story of Salman’s film is 100% infringement along with important similarities in the screenplay and locations. Joshi has submitted documents that include detailed comparisons of the film's scenes and the sequences shot by Joshi. Joshi claims that he had registered his story in July 2007 with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council as well as the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers. He then approached Yashi Multi Media (YMM), a production house owned by Suresh and Vivek Oberoi. However, the film didn’t take off and the contract with the production house expired. He later approached other production houses including Viacom 18, of which Parveez Shaikha, who has been given credit for the movie's screenplay. On Thursday, the High Court bench headed by Justice Gautam Patel, has directed all parties including producers Rockline Venkatesh, Rajessh Bhatt and Salman Khan, a co-producer, writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and director Kabir Khan, to maintain accounts of business with respect to the movie. The Court also ordered all respondents to file their replies by 21st Oct. It further marked that there did seem to be some similarity between the two films.
