Tuesday, 20th Oct 2015, 1:04 PM IST Music Composer: Aditya Trivedi Lyricist: Kartik Chaudhary ‘Main Aur Charles’ is all about the enigmatic serial killer Charles Sobhraj whose charm left everyone in awe. This film has Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadda in the lead roles and other actors including Tisca Chopra and Kay Kay Menon. The music of the film is finally out! So, let’s see what’s there in store for us. The album kicks off with a pumped up song titled ‘Neeli Bullet’. This song is full of swag and the music has a cool chill-step effect to it. Aditya Trivedi’s voice blends well with the tune and feel of the song. However, the lyrics could have been quirkier. It can turn out to be a great song for a road trip as the tempo is very peppy. Ratings: 3/5 The second track is called ‘Woh Toh Yahin Hai Lekin’ which is a slow sad song. The song starts with a dramatic piano piece and Jonita Gandhi’s feminine voice blends in. However, the song transitions to a higher tempo that overshadows the singer’s voice. The lyrics lack soul and fail to create an impact. It is not a song that you would want to hear on your earphones on a rainy day. Ratings: 2/5 Coming on to the third track ‘Ya Rabba’ is a failed attempt to create a soulful love song. The lyrics are flat, the music is stereotypical and there is nothing new to look forward to in this song. Singer Saugat Upadhaya’s voice sounds just fine. It is one of those songs that you would want to skip from your song list. Ratings: 1.5/5 Just when you thought this album has nothing interesting to offer, the spunky number ‘Dekhe Meri Aankho Mein Jo’ pops up. Saba Azad’s contemporary and sensuous voice is just right for this jazzy song. The feel of the song is mysterious and sassy. It can definitely turn out to be a crowd pleaser. The lyrics and music blend perfectly like strawberry swirl cheesecake. This one is sure to make you groove with its mystic charm. Ratings: 3.5/5 Moving on, the next song is called ‘Jee Lo Yaaron’, a happy number emerges out of a dark and mysterious album. This song has a joyous and up-beat tune. The lyrics are good, but, they get repetitive after sometime. It starts with great energy fueled by Saugat Upadhaya’s deep voice; however, as the song comes to an end it fails to linger onto the listener’s mind. Ratings: 2.5/5 The next song is ‘Main Toh Yahin Hoon Lekin’ which is the male version of Jonita Gandhi’s song in the album. This one turns out to be a tad better than the female version. Ali Azmat’s voice shines through the deep bass of the number. It is a melancholic melody that goes well with the theme of the film. Ratings: 2/5 The last track of this album is the quintessential theme song. It is packed with all the elements that instill paranoia, mystery, darkness, suspense and thrill. It is a purely instrumental track that has bits that will raise your anxiety levels. Though this piece is sure to amalgamate perfectly with the movie, it lacks that power when you hear it on your headphones. Ratings: 2.5/5 Overall, music album of ‘Main Aur Charles’ lacks charm.
