Tuesday, 3rd Nov 2015, 6:35 PM IST After working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Jazbaa’ this year, Sanjay Gupta is now all set to direct Abhishek Bachchan in his next titled ‘Ek Tha Gangster’. The movie is a racy thriller based on S. Hussain Zaidi's ‘Byculla To Bangkok’. The film will showcase how youngsters were recruited and went on to become local goon Arun Gawli, wheel chair bound Ashwin Naik, a former engineer and Chhota Rajan, former deputy and friend-turned-foe of Dawood Ibrahim, who was arrested in Bali last week. A source said, "The film won't focus on Chhota Rajan, but will follow the colourful lives of the cops and politicians. There will be songs and dances as well." Abhishek will be seen in a gritty avatar. Sanjay had also purchased the movie rights of Zaidi's book, ‘Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia’ which he made as ‘Shootout at Wadala’. However, ‘Ek Tha Gangster’ has no similarity to his earlier film. "This film will be a lot more filmy, featuring A-listers, with massy dialogue," the source said. Sanjay had earlier titled the film as ‘Mumbai Saga’, but now with a few changes in the script, the movie has been titled as ‘Ek Tha Gangster’. The shooting of the film kick-starts in Mumbai in December. Zaidi said, "Sanjay's screenplay is riveting. He is the best mafia moviemaker in the industry. There are some sensational, high-voltage scenes I am looking forward to viewing on the big screen, in particular, the first interaction between a don and an encounter specialist. That should keep viewers glued to their seats."
