Detailed Analysis:

Ka?an Johar gave some iconic romantic and family films as director. Now he is back with another relationship saga. 

Plot is complicated. The free-sprited Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) meets a wealthy bachelor with his own private jet Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) at a nightclub in London. They dance raunchily and hook up briefly in the loft above the nightclub, but Alizeh writes him off swiftly because she claims he’s a lousy kisser.

Ayan doesn’t take that criticism to seriously, but they hit it off as best friends (their initial scenes displaying the beginning of a deep bond seem painfully contrived). Unfortunately for Ayan, Alizeh refuses to let him go beyond the proverbial first base with her. What’s frustrating is that she holds on to that opinion until the end of the film. Her belief that friends should never become lovers is exhausting for Ayan. Fawad Khan makes forcible exit from the film though his track grabs attention. Then comes poet Saba (Aishwarya Rai) who becomes object of obsession for Ayan and they exchange some really contrived dialogues on relationships. If that was not enough then comes a sobbing tragic twist. 

Film has intense screenplay. It has life in 1st half but in middle of 2nd half it becomes over dramatic and stretched. But it has impact. Film has heavy dialogues throughout somewhat like KANK . 

Performance wise Anuskha Sharma is mind blowing. She plays the role with utmost perfection with right combo of zing and depth. Ranbir Kapoor never fails to disappoint and this time too he managed a outstanding act despite most unconvincing character. Aishwarya looks million dollar babe and Fawad leaves an impact in small role. Shahrukh brings smile in fleeting appearance. 

Music is chartbuster with every song adds a lot to the film. Film has good cinematography and apt costume. Editing is uneven as few scenes are stretched. Art design is authentic. Story is good but screenplay gets messed up at places. Dialogues are superb but at times it gones overboard. 

Director Karan Johar has made a decent film but he loses the grip towards the end. Also over use of drama and intensity at places work against the film. 

Film will release today and it will score at box office. Film will face stiff competition from 'Shivaay'.
