Detailed Analysis:
Raykesh Om Prakash Mehra has some acclaimed films to his credit but only two hits which have ghost directors as actors ('Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and 'Rang De Basanti'). His other efforts 'Aks', 'Delhi 6' were terribly boring and confused and his new offering looks the same.
Plot is stale. Two lovers divided by their economic status. Film runs on various tracks. Modern lovers, period lovers and irritating dancers coupled with irritating voice over of Om Puri reciting 'Hota Hai Hota hai'. The film starts when we meet these two as young adults, Suchi (Saiyami Kher) as a curly-haired miss engaged to Prince Karan (Anuj Chowdhury) who bumps into Adil-Mohnish (Harshvardhan Kapoor), and re-kindles old embers. There is no plot and there are no pathbreaking performances.
Film has stale screenplay. It has little life in 1st half but in middle of 2nd half all fizzle out. It becomes succh a confused tale and we wonder what Gulzar has done this time around.
Performance wise, Harsh is honest and looks well groomed actor. He lacks natural flair though. Saiyami Kher might find hard to get another big film after such insipid act. Anuj Chaudhary is effective and every other supporting actor is over the top. V
Film has lazy editing. Background music is loud. Cinematography is high point of the film, production design is good and costumes are apt. Music is big minus as Shankar Ehsaan Loy test patience.
Director Raykesh Omprakash Mehra proves yet again that he is master of technical aspects of film making with great visuals and all but he fails miserably in creating a film which can be understood or looks coherent. He needs Farhan or Aamir to control his wayward thoughts.
Film released today and will open with low to average numbers followed by average. It will find tough to survive at box office.
Go for this if you have not seen Raj Kanwar's 'Ab Ke Baras' (yes it's similar to abother disaster).
