Thursday, 31st December 12:00 PM IST While many actors surprised us with their amazing performances in 2015, we got something that we expected from our female actresses after a rocking 2014. 2015 was also ruled by our actresses. Many women - centric films proved to be successful at the box-office. Not just that,in a normal love story too, actresses shined.
There were some wonderful performances by our B-Town actresses this year and here we have listed down our choice of top 5 female performances of the year:
5) Anushka Sharma (‘NH10’): Anushka Sharma not only acted in the film, but also produced it. The film which showcased a dark side of the backward part of country had Anushka in full form. The actress’ hard-hitting performance manages to remain long after you see the film. Hats off to Anushka for carrying the role so confidently!
4) Priyanka Chopra (‘Bajirao Mastani’):
It’s not easy to leave a mark in a love story that doesn’t revolve around you; but Priyanka Chopra did just that. She stole the show in ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The movie was about Bajirao and Mastani, but PeeCee’s performance as Kashibai got more praises than the lead actors. It was a role that needed great talent and Priyanka was perfect for it. She is blending it in right way as she did 'Quantico' in addition to Kashibhai and 'Dil Dahadakane Do', magical!
3) Deepika Padukone (‘Piku’):
Shedding off her glamorous image, Deepika Padukone played the role of a girl next door in ‘Piku’. It was a very simple character, but the way the actress did it was commendable. Well, it’s noteasy to overshadow actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan. Deepika stood out in this multi-starrer.
2) Bhumi Pednekar (‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’):
First of all, Bhumi deserves a round of applause for gaining so much weight for a film that was nearly an experiment. Bhumi’s character of Sandhya, a girl who is fat and doesn’t get respect from her husband, was challenging. But, the debutante did it quite easily as if it was arole written for her. Fighting for her self-respect in the film, Bhumi is at second spot in our list.
1) Kangana Ranaut (‘TanuWeds Manu Returns’):
And at number one we undoubtedly have Kangana Ranaut. After ‘Queen’ it was essential for the actress to go a step forward and she did it with ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. Kangana played a double role in the film (which was probably one of the best sequels in Bollywood) – one of Datto and the other of Tanu. While, as Tanu, she got a maturity in the character, as Datto Kangana got a spark. We cannot imagine any other actress apart from Kangana in TWMR. On top of that it went on to cross 150 cr nett at domestic box office, unbelievable! |
