Friday, 18th Mar 2016, 6:51 PM IST Shooting of Omung Kumar’s ‘Sarbjit’ was going on in Bhendi Bazaar. However, the shoot was interrupted by the locals. They were shooting for a sequence set in Pakistan and had Darshan Kumar's character giving a speech with the message of peace and prosperity. It sparks off protest from some members of the gathering brandishing placards with anti-India slogans in Urdu. Incensed by the slogans, a group of locals in Bhendi Bazaar raised objections claiming their sentiments had been hurt. Darshan said, "I play Sarabjit's lawyer, Awaiz Sheikh, and after my speech my character is accused of being antinational and pro-Sarabjit." The locals filed a complaint against the makers, following which the executive producer, Zafar Mehdi, was put behind bars for over two hours. "The shoot was halted for over four hours. Later, Omung and I appraised the authorities about the scene in question and requested them to release Zafar since we had valid permission to shoot," the actor added.
