Monday, 14th July 2014, 05:50 PM IST Superstar Salman Khan was recently banned by the paparazzi for not posing for their lenses at a recent promotional event of‘Kick’. Apparently, the photographers got too close to the star and that’s when his bodyguards pushed them away. But what irked them was when Salman asked them to leave if they wished.
Salman had told the photographers, “Those who want to cover the event are welcome to stay, the rest can leave if they wish.” This statement resulted in the ire of the paparazzi who then decided to ban the star. A photographer who did not wish to be named, said, “Salman Khan needs to apologise to us or else we will not photograph him. The blackout will continue till July 25 when his film ‘Kick’ hits theatres. We will not click him even if we see him cycling at Bandstand. Our union will take up the issue at a meeting on Monday.”
After the chaos at the venue ended, Salman clarified,“Photographers need to maintain a distance, and if the security guard is protecting us, they are not doing anything wrong. We are there for each other.”
A similar incident happened at Baba Siddiqui’s party too. Salman’s father Salim Khan said, “I don't know what transpired at the event but yes, cameramen do get very close at events. At Baba Siddiqui's Iftar, we were almost hit in our faces by cameras.” Reacting to the photographers’ stand to boycott him, Salman tweeted saying, “This is wat I call a stand, the photographers r gonna lose out on wrk, but hv still taken a decision not to take my pics, happy fr them.” He further added, “I wld hv immense respect for them if they keep this stand.” We wonder if the media would stick to their decision, or will they bow down to Salman’s star power. |
