Monday, 25th August, 2014, 05:30 PM IST We earlier reported that Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan will be starring together in Nikhil Advani’s next. And now we have heard that the plot of the film revolves around the couple’s live-in relationship which hits rough waters when Kangana’s character gets pregnant.
When Imran’s character, Nikhil, hears the news he suggests they must get married. But Kangana’s character, Payal, takes him by surprise by saying, “Why? Just because I'm pregnant? So what's the big deal?!”
The film’s director Nikhil Advani pointed out that both the characters have shades of grey but are different from each other. While Nikhil is a simple guy from Pune, with structured news and who doesn’t take risks; Payal is from Delhi and has some really refreshing ideas about family, love, marriage and parenthood. They both fall in love and that turns their lives upside down.
Talking about the film, Nikhil said, “I agreed to do the film just on the basis of the original title, ‘Saali Kutiya: A Love Story’. The censors would have never passed it, so we changed it to ‘Katti Batti’. But I have retained Anshul's modern take on an age-old institution. It reflects the fact that Indian women today are confident, progressive, empowered and ready to take chances.” About casting Kangana for the role, he further added, “After the narration, we sat together for three hours discussing details of the character.I could see that Kangana was as excited as I was.” On pointing out the similarity that the film shares with 2005 love-story ‘Salaam Namaste’, Nikhil defends the film saying, “Our story is rooted in and unfolds in urban India and that's the big difference.” The film was scripted by Anshul Singhal, a boy from Saharanpur who went to IIT and fell in and then out of love with a girl. |
