Saturday, 6th September 2014, 01:30 PM IST The Central Board of Film Certification’s office is abuzz with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Shahid Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer film ‘Haider’.
The film was among the last few ones to be censored by the CBFC CEO, Rakesh Kumar, who is currently in jail as he was accused in a bribery case. The film is said to have received a U/A certificate but only after more than 40 cuts.
Some of the scenes that were snipped include: a scene with the word ‘fu***d’, a scene showing a burning body, corpses piled into a truck, Shahid walking among the corpses, a wire inserted into a naked man, a close-upshot of an appendix surgery and a stone-pelting incident.
Director Vishal revealed, “The CBFC asked for seven cuts. The film was first submitted to the Board two months before the final edit. When the film came to the revising committee, Vishal along with the film's editor had made more than 35 cuts to tighten the film. These were not imposed by either the Board or the revising committee.” Senior board member Nandini Sardesai who also heads the revising committee said, “Kumar saw ‘Haider’ twice and passed it with a U/A certificate. Vishal has apparently agreed to the cuts. But, I don’t understand why the revising committee was not approached. That man was flouting rules.” |
