Movie Review JIGARIYA Is Sincere Portrayal Of Small Town Old Time Romance

Film will release tomorrow and should get at least 350 screens which will be more than enough for such film as there is not much business potential. Film will be a washout at box office and even 50 lakhs nett day one will be a herculean task.

Verdict:

Watch it for simplistic heart wrenching romantic feel

Detailed Analysis:

'Jigariya' is hitting the screens tomorrow and it seems an interesting romantic drama.

Film has rather simple plot. Film is set in Agra of 1988. Shyam Lal Gupta aka Shyamu (Harshvardhan) is son of Ramlal (Virender Saxena). Ramlal owns a famous sweet shop from generations. Shyamu again fails in exam as he is more interested in writing 'shyari' and so father asks him to sit in shop from next day. On the way to deliver sweet packets, Shyamu is hit by rickshaw and then he sees Radhika aka Raadha for the first time. He falls in love in first sight itself. Radhaa left that day but also left her hair clip at the accident spot and Shyamu is searching for her all over Agra. But ultimately they meet each other at Shyamu's sweet shop. Then this series of meetings turn into love for both of them. But one day their secret relationship gets public and she is sent to Mathura in order to keep her away from Shyamu.

Shyamu chases her to Mathura and finally they make plan to elope as she was about to get married to other guy. Both fled to Mumbai and there Radhaa works in beauty parlour and Shyamu as waiter until one day Shyamu gets a chance to be a lyricist in Mumbai. But the day they were about to get married, maternal uncle of Raadha find their love marriage plans and takes her back to Agra. What is the destiny of their relationship and how they meet in the end form the rest of the story.

Performance wise Harshavardhan makes a confident debut and acts very well with in his limits. Cherry has good screen space but she gets very few dialogues. Still she plays her part very well. Navni Parihar and K K Raina are super solid as parents of Radhaa. Virender Saxena is too good.

Background music is good and music/songs are melodious but lacks one chartbuster. Script is wayward and remains superficial. Cinematography is too good but editing is poor especially in 2nd half. Costume and art department are strictly good!.

Director Raj Purohit proves his command over medium yet again. His impressive debut 'Sixteen' was talk of the town and this time he makes it even better with this film. Barring over cooked screenplay and few editing lapses, Raj keeps the proceedings very  tight and yet entertaining.

Film will release tomorrow and should get at least 350 screens which will be more than enough for such film as there is not much business potential. Film will find it tough at box office in middle of so many new releases.

Go for this one if you are die hard romantic!
