Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajal’ starring Priyanka Chopra, Prakash Jha, Rahul Bhat and Manav Kaul is allset to hit theaters on 4th March, 2016.The film is a Hindi action-dramafilm and a sequel to the 2003 release Gangaajal. Let’s listen to the tracks andfind out how well it does.
The album starts with the track ‘Tetua’ sung by none other than Sukhwinder Singh in his dynamic and rustic style of singing, supported by backup vocals in parts of the song. The word “Tetua” referring to the Adam’s Apple is a intentionally expressive song and is accompanied by bold lyrics like “Chhaan lenge aise jaise Machhli ho jaal mein” & “Bakre kimaai khair kab tak manavegi” which indicate no escape for the corrupt evils of society written by the versatile Manoj Muntashir. It is superbly composed by Salim-Sulaiman giving it the right upbeat tempo and the apt feel that is required by the audience to keep the spirit of the film alive. Ratings: 3.5/5
The next song in the album is ‘Maya Thagni’ in Pravesh Mallick’s raw voice interestingly composed by Salim-Sulaiman mixing it with western tribal beats making it a rhythmic number. The lyrics are straightforward and strong. Background songs like these become a necessity in a film like “Jai Gangaajal” as it eases the stress portrayed in the violence shown init. Ratings: 3/5
The film also has its version of our country’s National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ which is a tribute to the women in the police force featuring a few of them. Sung by none other than Priyanka Chopra, in a strong patriotic tone - the Hero of the film. There can never be any rating below than a full rating to our National Anthem as it creates a feeling of Pride to be born an Indian. Ratings: 5/5
Overall, the music album of ‘Jai Gangaajal’ is a powerful one, thankfully sticking to the plot without the unnecessary cliché item numbers. An album that you won’t choose to have in your music folder but something you would surely enjoy andrelate to while watching this film. Ratings: 3.5/5
