TEVAR Is Holding On Monday But After Below Par Weekend
2014 proved to be a bad year at box office for Hindi film industry and now we see first big release of 2015 in form of Arjun Kapoor - Sonakshi Sinha starrer ''Tevar''. Film is produced by Boney Kapoor and Eros.
Film released across 2800 - 3000 screens and that was expected considering the mounting of the film on lavish scale. Film has that clear massy flavor and it needs to score there in order to be a success. Film had almost no competition from ''PK'', ''Taken 3'' and ''Big Eyes''.
On Friday, film took a fair start at box office and film opened to 20% occupancy in Gujarat but its better around 30% in Rajasthan and UP. Delhi and Mumbai were around the same mark. Film was expected to jump from matinee show onwards but film were rather flat throughout the day in most of the centers. Film collected 7.05 cr nett on day one which was average but not great considering screen size.
Film started again on similar notes on Saturday and only Delhi/UP is looking up but that is due to under performance on Friday. Film looked to jump by 10-15% at best but then central India held film back. Film needed jump in the range of 25% but on contrary film dipped by 5%.
Film collected 7 cr nett on Saturday. Film was good on Sunday and jumped by 15% all over and jump was even bigger in territories like Rajasthan in tune of 30%. Film should collect close to 8 cr nett on Sunday and thus taking weekend total to 22.05 cr nett.
Film needed solid trending over weekend which did not happen and now film needs super solid weekdays. Film took a decent start on Monday and there was a drop of 40 - 45 % which was good but after low weekend it is strictly average. Film collected 3.50 cr nett on Monday taking 4 day total to 25.55 cr nett.
Film collected very poor 7 cr in overseas market and will finish around 10-12 cr lifetime at best. Now film is heading for a below par lifetime numbers and even 50 cr nett lifetime will be an achievement.
