Friday, 27th May 2016, 05:40 PM IST ‘Udta Punjab’, that has already created a positive sentiment and has become a much awaited multi-starrer of the year, is facing trouble from the Censor Board. The film covers the darker subject, that of drug abuse in Punjab. Starring the popular stars, the film has gained appreciation from the audiences, especially the youth. The film seems to have become a victim of political games owing to the topic of drug abuse. The Examination Committee said that the decision was solely based on the abusive language used in the film. The film is said to have a direct connect with Punjab’s politics. Reportedly the political party Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has reportedly expressed their concern over the portrayal of Punjabis in the film. SAD MLA Virsa Singh Valhota said that they wouldn't be banning the film unless if portrays Punjabis in a wrong manner or defame them. On the other side, the makers of ‘Udta Punjab’ have approached Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) and the decision is now in their hands. The makers are not willing to trim any content from the film. The film is just 3 weeks away from its release.
