Monday, 9th June 2014, 05:30 PM IST Shailendra Singh will be taking the big leap into direction after many successful years as a producer, talent manager and brand endorser. He will be making his debut in direction with upcoming film‘Gupta Clinic’. Shailendra has produced over 72 films in the 28 years he has been in the industry and was even voted as 12th most powerful person in Filmfare's Power list in 2009. Beside this, he also created the Sunburn festival that has gained a cult-like status. When asked about the big leap, this is what he had to say, “28 years has been the foreplay, directing a movie is the orgasm for me now. In my journey of Bollywood, be it getting endorsements for Bollywood or giving a stage to Shah Rukh and Amitabh to dance, having given my shoulders to several directors to narrate their stories and after empowering so many people in Bollywood, I felt the need to tell stories myself now. I have always loved telling stories. The film I will direct is a 'Com Com', a Commercial Comedy. The genre of the film is a unique space. I get disturbed when cinema is classified. My first film has a format of all kinds of story-telling formats, be it documentary fiction and non-fiction, all mixed up, tied up in a manner that the audience gets its money's worth." The film is titled ‘Gupta Clinic’ and will be based on an interesting Guptaji, who advises people on their physical relationships. The film promises to be quirky with the wit of Shailendra at its disposal. | |||
