Rock On 2 Is Half Hearted Attempt To Cash Prequel

Detailed Analysis:

Farhan Akhtar has given some excellent films as director as well as actor. Now he is back with sequel of moderately hit rock film.  

In the sequel of Rock On we see the band, Magik reunites with some new members. The musical drama movie will have the band reuniting after a long-time to spread the magik again. The team faces many struggles to perform again and travels to the North-East. The movie is extensively shot in North-East India to pay the tribute to the people of the North-East and an attempt to bring the whole region into mainstream pop culture.

Film has intense screenplay. It has life in 1st half but in middle of 2nd half it becomes over dramatic and stretched. But it has impact. Film has heavy dialogues throughout somewhat like ZNMD. 

Performance wise Farhan Akhtar is mind blowing. He plays the role with utmost perfection with right combo of zing and depth. Shraddha Kapoor never fails to disappoint and this time too she managed a outstanding act despite most unconvincing character. Arjun Rampal is good, Purab Kohli is average. 

Music is big letdown. Film has good cinematography and apt costume. Editing is uneven as few scenes are stretched. Art design is authentic. Story is predictable and screenplay gets messed up at places. Dialogues are average and at times it gones overboard. 

Director Shujaat Saudagar has made a boring film and he loses the grip towards the end. Also over use of drama and intensity at places work against the film. 

Film will release today and it will find tough to score at box office. Film will suffer due to ongoing demonetization issue.
