Detailed Analysis:
Gauri Shinde made impressive debut with 'English Vinglish' and now she is back with interesting casting and film.
Film tells story of a typical modern girl of today Kiara (Alia Bhatt) who has romantic encounters with a producer (Kunaal Kapoor), a restaurant owner (Angad Bedi), a singer (Ali Zafar) and a carpenter (Aditya Roy Kapur). She is confused among men in her life and has troubled past with her parents. She seeks advice from psychiatrist Jahangir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) and this blooms into an interesting equation. How this equation drives the life of this girl forms the rest of the film.
Film has interesting screenplay. It has life in 1st half and 2nd half keeps you hooked. But film lacks depth except SRK's track and all her relationships looked feeble.
Performance wise Shahrukh Khan delivers a gem of the act. His eyes speak million words and his humor laced philosophy moves you. Watch out for last scene when he hugs Alia, emotional and tearjerker! Rest of the supporting cast is decent but no one leaves a mark due to caricaturish characterisation.
Songs slows down the film. Film has good cinematography and apt costume. Editing is messy. Art design is authentic. Story is interesting and screenplay is well crafted. Dialogues are outstanding and deep.
Director Gauri Shinde gives another gem of the film in terms of thought though this time around he is done by a bit lazy characterisation of supporting cast.
Film will release today and it will score at box office. Though film might suffer due to ongoing demonetization issue.
Go watch it for SRK, Alia and dialogues!
