THE SHAUKEENS Takes A Slow Start, RANG RASIYA Is Pathetic And INTERSTELLAR Starts Well
There is very interesting mix of films releasing this weekend form Bollywood as well as from Hollywood. Remake of old hit ''The Shaukeens'' and controversial biopic of Raja Ravi Varma ''Rang Rasiya'' and most awaited Hollywood film of the year ''Interstellar'' clashing at Indian box office today.
''The Shaukeens'' has opened to expected occupancy of 25% which is not bad considering usual trend these days on Friday morning. Film should grow from evening onwards as reviews are positive but it needs a turnaround very soon as opening is low. As of now 4.50 cr nett looks a good result for the film on day one.
''Rang Rasiya'' opened to horrific numbers and occupancy is not even 5%. This was again expected considering no big face value and historical theme of the film. It needs a dramatic turn aorund from evening onwards and even 50 lakhs nett on day one looks tough.
Hollywood biggie ''Interstellar'' opened to good numbers of around 35% mainly due to brand name of director Christopher Nolan. Film has ample shows in multiplexes but long running time of 2hour 50 minutes might hurt it. Film should post healthy total of 2.5-3 cr nett on day one.
But in middle of all this, ''Happy New Year'' continues to hold well and might come out as 2nd best film on 3rd Friday mainly due to repeat watch from family audience.
