“EK THA TIGER” Is Complete Entertainer But Not Typical Salman Film
Pluses:
Salman Khan in top notch form, this is his show throughout, Katrina holds her forte against superstar, Ranvir Shreoy and Girish Karnad are good, script is routine but tight, direction is super and so is editing
Minuses:
Songs do take a toll as not a single chartbuster type song, after interval film dips, many fans of Salman might find it too fast and boring as it is not in league of "Ready" and 'Bodyguard"
Critic Rating: 3/5
Business Rating: 4.5/5
Verdict:
Watch it for Salman and Salman all the way
Detail Analysis:
Film has a thin dated plot where a RAW agent Salman Khan goes to observe a scientist who is trying to sell secrets of country to a Pakistani. And to get close to him, our Tiger try to get cozy with his assistant Zoya played by Katrina. After repeated warnings from other RAW agent Raghu played by Ranvir Shreoy, Salman can't stop himself in falling love with Katrina. From there on they move on to a journey full of deceit, suspense and drama. Film has superb performance from Salman Khan who lives up to the hype surrounding the film and carries the film on shoulder of his stardom. And after quite some time, he has a script to rely on. His action, his comic timing and his persona - all takes this script forward. The Katrina Kaif looks good and provides the film with required charm. But to be fair, she falls short when she is in action mode. Though lead pair looks good on screen. Ranvir Shrey tells the story of Tiger as Sutradhaar and we see whole film through his eyes. Girish Karnad is as good as always. There are few other noticeable cameos which you should enjoy. Cinematography lifts the film to another level as all foreign locations come alive on screen. Music is the sore thumb of the film as it really a shame that Yash Raj Films give such an average album and every song works as a loo break. Editing keeps the proceedings really tight and running time of just 2 hours 14 minutes is a plus for the film. Climax deserves special mention as there is amazingly executed action and with couple of surprises thrown. After film is over, one might feel little underwhelming due to some hole in script towards end but overall you bound to feel satisfied.
