Economics & Box Office Performance Analysis Of “TERI MERI KAHAANI”
“Teri Meri Kahaani” was released with much fanfare few days back. All the promotions, high decibel marketing and star power of Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra mattered nothing for the audience as content was poor. Audience these days have become so smart that first promo or poster is good enough for them. They make up their minds and even if they oblige by going into cinemas halls due to good songs or marketing gimmicks, it’s all about content which convert in all the crucial word of mouth.
Film faltered from Day one, below average opening day followed by poor word of mouth and writing was on the wall. Film collected meager 23 cr nett plus in week one and lifetime collections will come around 28 cr nett and that is shockingly low. Film will go down as one of the biggest disasters of the year.
Film was bought by Ponty Chadha including theatrical business and satellite rights from Kunal Kohlifor huge sum of 55 cr. But Ponty stands to lose major chunk of investment in range of 25 cr. Film’s dismal performance has damaged the brand value of Shahid Kapoor and Kunal Kohli in a big way as both are struggling with strings of flops behind them.
