“Rowdy Rathore” has done what no other film managed to do, not even “Dabangg”, “Bodyguard” or “Ek Tha Tiger”. Film managed 100 cr plus total and crossed 130 cr nett and that too releasing on anon holiday weekend. This was no mean feat and it has consolidated Akshay Kumar’s position at box office in a big way.
Film did some extraordinary business from Day 1 and ultimately collected 132 cr nett at domestic box office. Film ran for over 9 weeks and only a biggie like “Ek Tha Tiger” curtailed its run. Film also collected 19 cr in overseas and total gross collections stood at 206 cr.
Film generated 400% profits over investment which is a huge one for producers as well as distributors. This was 2nd successive blockbuster from director Prabhu Deva after his last hit “Wanted” which revived Salman Khan’s career. He is right now in high demand in Bollywood and will be having two release next year.
