CHENNAI EXPRESS And Box Office Records: Has Film Got Steam To Rewrite History?
"Chennai Express" is releasing in couple of days time and film is making waves before release. There is huge anticipation around film to break few if not all box office records. Today we anaalyse film''s chances to eclipse few of those.
Paid Previews:
Film will be released with paid previews on 8th August and film will break that record for sure and that too with some distance. As we predicted, film should touch 4 cr nett on Thursday.
Opening Day Record:
As far as opening day record is concerned, "Ek Tha Tiger" holds huge 32.90 cr nett and to beat that film requires 90% plus occupancy if it releases in 3500 screens. That looks tough and it seems that film might end up couple of crores short but here is the twist! Paid previews and day one might take it over that figure.
Opening Weekend Record:
Highest 3 day weekend record is with "Dabangg 2" at 64.90 cr nett and this is one record which is most realistic to achieve. Film can easily touch 70 cr nett if not 75 cr nett over the weekend with 3500 plus screens.
Opening Week Record:
This is tough one to crack as "Ek Tha Tiger" collected humongous 135.25 cr nett in week one. To do this, film will need a tremendous trending and also film will face another big release OUATIMD on 7th Day on 15th August.
Lifetime Domestic Nett Collections:
This is easily the most coveted one, "3 Idiots" holds highest domestic collection record with 202.50 cr nett. Film needs to trend in a dream way for 3-4 weeks and that looks tough as one big release after another is on the card in August.
Top Overseas Lifetime Grosser:
"3 Idiots" holds this one too at 128 cr (24.25 million dollar) and it seems real difficult though film is releasing in more than 700 screens which gives it an outside chance.
Top Worldwide Lifetime Grosser:
"3 Idiots" has this safely in bag at 385 cr which is tough to break. Film will need a dream run and almost out of the world performance to reach even close to it.
