Tuesday, 7th June 2016, 05:30 PM IST The much anticipated film, ‘Udta Punjab’ has created a lot of buzz in the industry. The songs have already become top trending tracks of Bollywood but the movie seems to have hit a road block. After the censor’s harsh orders to cut 89 scenes, Karan Johar and Hansal Mehta, director of ‘Aligarh’ came in support of ‘Udta Punjab’. Karan Johar posted, “#UdtaPunjab speaks of the reality of our times….censoring reality amounts to delusion…..the fraternity has to stand by what’s right!!” Hansal Mehta, director of ‘Aligarh’, which too faced censor woes, came in support for ‘Udta Punjab’. Hansal, whose ‘Aligarh’ also battled the censors, posted, “What is this I’m hearing about #UdtaPunjab? Makes me very, very angry. Can the truth defame a state? Delusion or collusion? Why is the establishment so scared of films that mirror reality? #UdtaPunjabCensored” The referring committee has ordered the reference of Punjab to be deleted from the film. They even told the makers to remove ‘Punjab’ from the title and suggested 89 other cuts, which has shocked everyone.
