Friday, 24th March 2017, 3:36 PM IST Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Phillauri’ had its wide release today, but not without an obstacle. The actress was asked to mute Hanuman Chalisa by none other than the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). The scene in ‘Phillauri’ which is muted is where Kanan (Suraj Sharma) meets Shashi, the friendly ghost, and starts chanting the Hanuman Chalisa sitting in the bathtub to get rid of her. In contrast to the popular belief about ghosts eradicating on hearing the chant, Anushka is rather pacified, which did not go down well with the CBFC as it can “hurt religious sentiments” according to the Board. In addition, it is being reported that the CBFC asked the makers to add a disclaimer at the beginning announcing that they do not subscribe to any of the superstitions shown in the film nor do they believe in ghosts.
