Friday, 18th July 2014, 02:50 PM IST Actor Saif Ali Khan is currently in London shooting the last schedule of Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom’. Talking about his latest release, Sajid Khan’s ‘Humshakals’, he admits that he surrendered to the director even though he was uncomfortable with the content. “The film didn't have a script as such; it was all there in Sajid's mind. I did whatever he asked me to,” said the Nawab of Pataudi.
Saif said that stepping out of his comfort zone and surrendering to the director’s convictions was a mistake that he regrets today. He further said, “I did the film thinking that it will help me expand my market, but obviously that wasn't a clever idea. I was trying to be someone I'm not. The humour was not the kind I enjoy. My upcoming film, ‘Happy Endings’ is closer to the comedy I believe in and am known for.”
Saif is apologetic that he let his fans down. When asked if he was aware of the back lash and how he feels about the negative reviews from the audiences and critics, he said, “I was and I can understand it. The film was very regressive. In fact, while watching it, I asked myself what I was doing in it. I knew I had let my fans down and underestimated their intelligence.” Thankfully, he has promised not to do such a film again. “I've been introspecting a lot and will never repeat a mistake that was ‘Humshakals’," he said. Before signing off, he admitted that he wouldn’t do a second film with Sajid as was planned, “My consent depended on how this film performed. Now, obviously I'm not going to do a second film with Sajid.” |
