Friday, 18th July 2014, 05:15 PM IST Sanjay Leela Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned to make sure his magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is made on a large scale.
Now we have heard that the filmmaker has approached performing artist Daksha Sheth to train his lead pair, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, in Kathak and in Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial arts form that existed at the time of Bajirao.
A source informs, “The film has several war sequences and Ranveer's character will be seen in high risk combats. Bhansali has already finalised locations for these action scenes in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. He is waiting for his cast to return from their respective schedules so they can begin their training with Daksha.” The source further added, “Ranveer needs to master the art of striking, kicking, grappling and weaponry so that when he engages in a fight, he can balance himself perfectly and perform the scenes with élan.” Even Deepika will be seen in several elaborate dance numbers; hence she needs to learn Kathak from Sheth. She will be learning Kalaripayattu too along with Ranveer. Daksha confirmed the news saying, “Yes, I've been approached by Sanjay Bhansali to train Ranveer and Deepika for ‘Bajirao Mastani’. I will have more clarity on this offer in a week's time. It's an unusual experience for me to work on a film. I've done so few of them.I'm really enthusiastic as along with teaching, I'll also get to learn something new.” |
