Single Screen Vs. Multiplex Business Analysis Of Hits Of 2012
In last decade or so, India has seen sporadic growth of multiplexes across the country. Now there is 2nd generation of growth also happening as multiplexes are coming up in smaller towns too. Better seating facolities, hygienic washroom, digital projection and dilby sound are few of the benefits which make one’s visit to plexes a better experience than single screens.
But as perceived by many of us that multiplexes contribute heavily to most of the films’ successes is still far from reality. Barring smaller hits like “Kahaani”, “Vicky Donor” and “Paan Singh Tomar”, single screens are still ruling the game. It is heavy contribution from single screens which make films like “Dabangg”,”Ra.One”, “Don 2”, “Bodyguard” and most recently “Rowdy Rathore” the 100 cr grossers.
Films having mass appeal, hit music, one chartbuster item number and heavy dose of action score heavily among masses in single screens. Lets look at how recent hits of year 2012 are faring in plexes and single screens.
