Wednesday, 8th October 11:30 AM IST Salman Khan depends on Eid to churn blockbusters, Aamir has Christmas to salvage him and Shahrukh has Diwali. Salman falters with 'Jai Ho' in January and Aamir failed to cross even 100 cr nett with 'Talaash' in post Diwali period. Shahrukh arrived in style on Eid last year and he is again back on Diwali this year to tumble few box office records. Salman has delivered mammoth blockbuster 'Kick' this year and crossed SRK's 'Chennai Express'. Aamir Khan will try to cross his own best 'Dhoom 3' with his next release 'P.K.' later this year. Now its King's turn on Diwali to establish his supremacy again. Shahrukh Khan starrer 'Happy New Year' will enjoy solo release as smaller films like 'Super Naani' and 'Rangrasiya' shifted and made way for King Khan. Even big release down south Shankar's 'I' will release now on 14th November. So its certain that Shahrukh Khan starrer will get 4500 plus screens in India and distributor of the film Yash Raj Films will make sure that film gets extensive release overseas in around 800-900 screens somewhat similar like YRF's last year release 'Dhoom 3'. Film has stiff target of crossing 273 cr nett of 'Dhoom 3' or at least 232 cr nett of 'Kick'. Film has almost 2 clear weeks as first major release 'The Shaukeens' will releases on 7th November. On a bad day going by SRK's star power and film's huge scale, 190-200 cr nett mark is not a big deal. But to get good word of mouth is the real challenge. No major release trended well in last couple of years and after huge week one, all tapered down. As far as star cast is concerned, HNY has perfect ensemble cast. Numero uno male star Shahrukh, box office queen Deepika with Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani. Chartbuster songs 'Manwaa Laage' and 'Lovely' will take care of mass belts as well as of overseas audience. The big challenge will be to get big numbers in 2nd week riding on good reviews or positive word of mouth. No matter what his critics' say, Baadshah will stamp his authority once again but yes only question remains to be answered is - how big hit it will be! Wait till Diwali and you will get the answers. |
