Tuesday, 20th November 10:00 AM IST Over the last few years, Salman Khan has made it a point to release his films around Eid. It started with Wanted (2010) and was followed by all his recent hits — "Dabangg" (2010), "Ready" (2011), "Bodyguard" (2011) and "Ek Tha Tiger". But just when you would think Salman is superstitious aboout this trend, he is set to change things around. Dabangg 2 is set for a Christmas release, 23 years since his first-ever blockbuster, "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989). The Sooraj Barjatya-directed film released on December 29. Now, Dabangg 2 is set to hit theatres on December 21. An insider from the production house reveals Salman consciously decided to break the myth surrounding his Eid superstition. “He believes that the content of "Dabangg 2" is even better that the original. So he will try to defy the Eid release myth,” says the insider. The original was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, and was a big turning point in Salman’s box-office fortune. Actor-turned-producer Arbaaz Khan has now taken the director’s seat. When contacted, Arbaaz says, “There are four-five vital release periods in a year, which are important for any big film. Since our film will be ready by the year-end, we decided on Christmas. The long weekend should be good for us.” | |||
