Arjun Kapoor In New York To Attend Global Citizen Festival

Saturday, 26th Sept 2015, 3:41 PM IST Arjun Kapoor is currently in New York to attend the Global Citizen Festival that kick-starts today. The actor will be giving a two-minute speech at the event. His speech will showcase India's progress and highlight the challenges that remain. The event will take place at New York's Central Park with the aim of taking the global goals for sustainable growth to seven billion people in the next seven days. It is hosted by Stephen Colbert, Hugh Jackman Kerry Washington, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Olivia Wilde. This advocacy-driven music concert is a Global Poverty Project which will play out before a live audience of 60,000. Celebs like Pearl Jam, Beyonce, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Sunidhi Chauhan will be performing at the event. Arjun will be representing India at the event. He will be speaking in front of global heads like the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, Bill and Melinda Gates, US Vice President Joe Biden and US First Lady Michelle Obama. The 'Tevar' actor admits that he is trying not to be nervous. Arjun said, "I've been on global platforms before but as an actor, this time I'm representing my country and that makes me feel like a proud Indian. On Friday, 193 world leaders met at the United Nations to adopt the Global Goals, 17 targets to end poverty, inequality and injustice, tackle climate change and campaign for a better world for our children by 2030.
