Tuesday, 17th June 2014, 04:50 PM IST The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming thriller film ‘Ek Villain’ starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor albeit with a few cuts.
The scenes that were deleted include one action sequence in the climax, another scene where a character is drenched in petrol and a third in which a girl is being threatened. Apart from this, the Board also asked the makers to mute out the word ‘hajaam’ meaning barber. Interestingly, the use of the word ‘barber’ in Shah Rukh Khan’s 2009 film ‘Billu Barber’ created a controversy as the barber community protested against it and ultimately the title was changed.
A source close to the development said, "The Board told the ‘Ek Villain’ producers to tone down the action sequences. There was also a scene which had blood oozing from a character's neck, which the Board felt was too gory. That has been now replaced with a close-up of the girl's face instead. Also, the word 'hajaam' has been muted." Confirming the news, Tanuj Garg of Balaji Motion pictures said, “The film has been cleared with a U/A certificate after some minor action cuts. Together the cuts amount to just a minute of screen time. The CBFC asked us to mute the word as they did not want any community to object.” |
