Thursday, 18th Dec 2014, 6:37 PM IST Javed Akhtar was away from writing lyrics for films due to a legal tussle with producers over copyrights-royalty issues for writers. He was only writing lyrics for his children Zoya and Farhan Akhtar’s films. But, now he is back in field and will be penning down lyrics for Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’. The music of the film will be composed by A.R. Rahman. Rahman and Javed have worked with Gowariker in films like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’. Talking about his return, Javed Akhtar said, “It’s true, I was unemployed for nearly five years because of my fight with producers over writers’ royalties. During this time, I mainly wrote lyrics for my children Farhan and Zoya’s films.” “Coming together with Rahman is always a challenge. Ashutosh and I have worked on all his films after ‘Lagaan’. Interestingly, we’ve recreated different chapters of history in ‘Lagaan’, ‘Jodhaa-Akbar’ and ‘KhelenHum Jee Jaan Se’. ‘Mohenjo-Daro’ is a new challenge,” added Akhtar. He will be also writing lyrics for Vipul Shah’s next directorial venture. He said, “Vipul’s film is a contemporary love story while Ashutosh’s film will take me back to the past. I am resuming my career as a lyricist with these two very different projects.” Now you can enjoy ad-free experience by downloading India’s first Box Office mobile app from here –Android:http://bit.ly/BOCapsuleMobileApp and iOS:bit.ly/BOCapsuleiOSApp |
