HAPPY NEW YEAR Is Set For 159 Cr Nett Week One

One of the biggest releases of the year ''Happy New Year'' released on Friday during one of the biggest holiday period of the year which is post Diwali. Film had huge pre release buzz and it was expected to shatter few records in first three day itself. That is what happened with highest weekend ever and highest opening day ever followed by 2nd highest week one of 2014.

Film was bumper on Friday and despite mixed reviews, audience went berserk. Film collected humongous 44.97 cr nett on day one which was by far highest ever opening day in history of Bollywood. This is not only first time a film crossed 40 cr nett but also reached close to 45 cr nett.

Saturday and Sunday were in the same range as film collected 31.60 cr nett and 32.29 cr nett respectively. There was no growth on Sunday which was due to working Monday effect in metros. Film still managed huge 108.86 cr nett weekend, highest ever!

Yesterday many would had thought that film will fall flat but as we all know that there is a world outside online medium and where artificial negativity does not work. That is why film held strong and Gujarat was just 35% drop from yesterday and Rajasthan was 48% drop. Overall drop was in 40%-45% range in comparison to Sunday. Film collected 15.25 cr nett on Monday which was good but not great considering 21 cr nett plus of ''Dhoom 3'' and fall of 50% from Saturday/Sunday.




Film had 10% drop on Tuesday. Film collected close to 13.17 cr nett on Tuesday which was a fair total. On Wednesday again film was looking good and except Gujarat, there was no distinct drop anywhere and it collected 11.02 cr nett. Film added 9.51 cr nett on Thursday with further drop of 10%.




Film collected 157.57 cr nett in week one and film had 2nd highest week one in 2014 which is 4th fastest of all time. ''Chennai Express'' collected 156 cr nett in week one and went on to cross 226 cr nett lifetime. Film added 60 cr in 5 days from overseas market as per early estimates. Today film crossed 280 cr worldwide gross too in 6 days only!
