Monday, 9th Mar 2015, 2:02 PM IST Ananth Mahadevan’s ‘Rough Book’ starring Tannishtha Chatterjee was recently adjudged Best Feature at Houstan Indian Film Festival. The director revealed that there was an all-American jury and most of the audience were locals rather than the Indian diaspora. "In fact, I discovered that the Chancellor of the University of Houstan, Renu Khator, an Indian immigrant had turned the system around much like the protagonist played by Tannishtha Chatterjee," Ananth said. It was Aakash Chaudhry, a Harvard graduate and the founder of the Aakash coaching Institute, who asked Ananth to make a film Indian education system. However, Ananth wasn't too keen on making the film as he thought education is more academic than cinematic. Ananth said, "It's the emotional journey of a teacher who thinks-out-of-box and challenges the system to move towards a global education pattern in which aptitude scores over marks.” Ananth is looking to tie-up with a studio to release the film by mid-June.
