Saturday, 11th Oct 2014, 6:56 PM IST After CBFC CEO Rakesh Kumar was accused of accepting bribes to certify a film in the producers’ favour, a number of changes have been implemented in the process of certification. Because of this, a number of filmmakers have been finding it increasingly difficult to certify their movies. The latest to face such trouble is apparently YRF’s ‘Kill Dil’ featuring Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar and Govinda.
CBFC has introduced a new rule which states that any film or its trailer seeking a certificate will have to be submitted well in advance, which previously was not the case. Due to this, the trailer was certified late, causing a delay in its release. Because of all this, the makers of the film had to reconsider and adapt their marketing strategies and campaigns.
Sources informed that the promo tapes of ‘Kill Dil’ were ready to air across TV channels, but for the want of a certificate from the CFBC, the broadcast of the same had to be delayed by a week.
Rafiq Gangjee, Vice President, Marketing & Communications at YRF, however, denied any such delay. Said he, "No, there was no delay as such nor did we have to change our plans, we are very much on schedule. The only thing that happened was that we were informed that any film/trailer would have to be submitted well in advance for certification."
Considering that the number of films coming up for release is increasing each year, plus with CBFC members having to adhere to norms of election duty, and further, with the long Diwali holidays just round the corner, the backlog of films awaiting the certification will increase even further. Hence, Bollywood filmmakers will have to adhere to the strict norms of CBFC and schedule their films way in advance for certification. |
