Saturday, 17th Jan 2015, 6:06 PM IST Members of Central Board of Film Certification had refused to certify the film ‘MSG:The Messenger Of God’. But Tribunal cleared the film and it released yesterday. This didn’t go down well with a few members of CBFC and they have resigned from their post. Ira Bhaskar, one of the members of the CBFC, and Leela Samson, the Chairperson of the board, resigned on Friday. Talking about it Leela said, "It is a mockery of Central Board of Film Certification. My resignation is final. I have informed the (I&B) Secretary." Ira said, "Other resignations will follow, we will make a joint statement tomorrow. We strived for transparency, we were attempting to make changes but the government was not in favour.” "The Board is supposed to meet four times a year, the last meeting was in January 2014. It seems the panel has become redundant. And now with Leela gone, there is no reason to hang around. The ministry can directly act as the certifying body," Bhaskar added.
