B R Films To Start Sequel To BHOOTNATH Starring Amitabh Bachchan Again In Order To Avoid Bankruptcy

Monday, 5th November 11:00 AM IST A few days ago, reports suggested that the failure of BR Films’s last release, "Bhoothnath" (2008), hurt the company really badly. The Amitabh Bachchan-starrer dud followed another failure — "Baabul" (2006), also with Amitabh in the lead. It’s believed that the production house hasn’t quite recovered from the back-to-back flops. Now, Big B will be back for the Ravi Chopra-produced sequel to "Bhoothnath". BR Films will be hoping for this to be a much-needed hit. Founded by the late filmmaker BR Chopra, the production house is famous for the "Mahabharat" TV series in the ’80s, and films like "Naya Daur" (1957) and "Waqt" (1965), among others. This time, Nitesh Tiwari, co-director of last year’s National Award-winning film, Chillar Party, will be at the helm instead of "Bhoothnath" director Vivek Sharma. “Mr Bachchan loves the script, and Nitesh has been in talks with him for a while now,” says an insider close to the development. When contacted, Nitesh says, “It’s too early to comment on the film. It will take some time for things to get sorted because a lot of things have to fall into place.” | |||
